Neighborhood association founded in 2004 based on turning their few streets into a model community. The association takes on neighborhood beautification, civic education, planting, peace-building, hygiene promotion, and much more. Every year, they hold an agro-artisinal fair to highlight local resources, skills, and talent.
SAKALA
Based in Michicot
Youth center founded in 2006 with the objective of creating a safe space for Soleyan children where they can play (with football, basketball, volleyball, ping-pong, board games, and dance lessons), learn (through a community library, computer center, and after-school lessons), and grow into model citizens (through mentorship, training, community service, and urban gardening).
PENAH
Based in 3BB
PENAH was founded in 2009 with the vision of protecting children’s rights to education, health, and play. They work with local volunteers and partners such as Malteser International and La Difference on hygiene-promotion initiatives, creating athletic and cultural opportunities for local children, and urban gardening and environmental initiatives.
OJNVACS
Based in Cite Lumiere
OJNVACS was founded in 2014 by Junior Fogel Henri after he attended an urban gardening class at SAKALA and wanted to take what he learned to his neighborhood, Philadelphia. He has taught local young people about urban gardening, environmental protection, and peace-building and the young group is flourishing.
HOCWOS
Based in 3BB
HOCWOS has learned from the models of La Difference and SAKALA to create a support program for children in their community. This includes civic education, health promotion, help with school lessons, trainings, and urban gardening.




Bois Neuf
RAJEPRE
Based in Bois Neuf
RAJEPRE was founded by Winter Luc to address a critical educational gap in Bois Neuf. RAJEPRE founded a community school that provides quality education to hundreds of vulnerable children, while educating them about environmental protection, civic responsibility, urban gardening and nutrition, and the arts.
RAVAGEP
Based in Bois Neuf
Also inspired by SAKALA, RAVAGEP has taken a large abandoned area in Bois Neuf and transformed it into a thriving community garden. They organize neighborhood clean-up campaigns, environmental awareness initiatives, and educational activities for children, and collaborate actively with groups across Cite Soleil
Rendezvous des arts
Based in Bois Neuf
Recognizing all of the talent in their neighborhood, singer-songwriter Gueldy Rene and his friends reclaimed a small space in Bois Neuf to turn into a performing arts space. They used recycled materials to build and decorate the space, and often use it as a space for civic education and promotion of neighborhood peace.

Planete des enfants unies
Based in Boston
PEU was founded in Cite Soleil in 1980, and over the past 36 years, has provided support to 9,350 children. They have found many ways to teach children the value of education, development, and non-violence; their biggest current program is karate, teaching 350 young people self-defense and self-control.
USDC
Based in Rue Volcy
Founded in 2011, USDC tries to build on the potential of young people in their neighborhoods. They mobilize young people in cultural, educational, environmental, and civic campaigns to show them how to be leaders; they also search for opportunities for the rest of the world to recognize the potential of these young people.

OPECS
Based in Norway
OPECS is a cooperative serving fishermen and fish merchants across Cite Soleil. They not only mobilize resources and energy to help support this important and often fragile livelihood, but also to protect and improve seaside neighborhoods through clean-up initiatives, civic education, and sanitation infrastructure.
OPJED
Based in Soleil 19
OJPED was founded in 1996 and its goal is to identify vulnerable youth and children and support them through school and beyond. They leverage local volunteers and resources, while working with a great number of partners, in areas such as nutrition, scholarship provision, professional training and internships, and psycho-social support.
Radio boukman
Based in Norway
Founded in 2006, Radio Boukman is the only community radio station in Cite Soleil – it is built by Soleyans, for Soleyans, in Cite Soleil. It not only covers stories and provides information to local communities that other radios cannot; it also ensures that the voices of Soleyans are heard by the outside world.
LIVOCS
Based in Brooklyn
LIVOCS is a collective that brings together voudou practitioners from across Cite Soleil for social and community develpment work.

metanoia
Based in Ti Haiti
Metanoia was founded by graduates of SAKALA who, realizing the impact that sports-for-peace programming had on them, decided to create a similar program in their neighborhood. Local volunteers lead football classes, after-school lessons, mentoring, and civic engagement campaigns for local youth.
ID-Haiti
Based in Soleil 4
ID-Haiti is a group of young intellectuals in Soley 4 who discovered that one way to overcome Cite Soleil’s renewed turf wars was through basketball. They formed the Cite Soleil Basketball Team, which brings players from across Cite Soleil to play together as a sign of unity. They are currently in Division II championships.

Fresh4Life is a local association in Ti Haiti that promotes positive commmunity attitudes, creates local animation and activities for young people, and promotes neighborhood cleanups.

Sekte Ke Kal is another local association in Ti Haiti that promotes positive commmunity attitudes, creates local animation and activities for young people, and promotes neighborhood cleanups.




UCDDJ
Based in Wharf Jeremie
UCDDJ was founded in 2016 to address the gap of social protection and support for children in Wharf Jeremie. They organize local volunteers to support vulnerable children in access to school, psycho-social wellbeing, and sports. One of their main accomplishments has been setting up the Omega Boxing club, which helps young people learn to channel their energy into boxing and develop discipline.
REMUSOV
Based in Vaudreuil
REMUSOV is a collection of mutuelles, local self-help groups, in Vaudreuil. These mutuelles provide micro-loans, insurance, and social support for this often-ignored rural community in Cite Soleil. REMUSOV provides a structure for local residents to organize themselves to support community-wide initiatives such as organic farming, streetlamps, and disaster risk reduction.
ONORECS
Based in Fontaine
ONORECS was founded in 2007 in Fontaine, an often-ignored area just to the north of downtown Cite Soleil. Its main focus is the creation of a clean environment through neighborhood clean-up campaigns, tree planting, and environmental/civic education.
UJDSC
Based in Village de la Renaissance
Founded in 2011, UJDSC focuses on helping young people realize their potential as artists and artisans. They provide training and apprenticeship in areas such as crochet, jewelry, and clothes-design while teaching young people about how to be good citizens through mentorship, community service, and educational opportunities.
Associations
Konbit Soley Leve is not officially registered, has no bank account, and no structure (see methodology). It encourages members to form associations to help themselves organize and create projects for their communities. Here are just a small handful of the community associations (formal and informal) that are connected to the KSL movement and share the KSL principles.
